Case Study:  STG Aerospace

OEM options to fit LED lighting systems in commercial aircraft can be prohibitively expensive. In addition to their photoluminescent strips common throughout the industry, STG Aerospace specialise in providing retrofit LED systems to operators’ fleets. A key benefit of LED lighting is in its reliability which can be important in maintaining flight readiness.
Passenger aircraft entrance lights may prevent take off if there is a bulb failure, because they can fail to properly charge the photoluminescent safety strips. This provides an excellent opportunity to reduce downtime for operators with an LED replacement.
Any replacement needs to fit a number of variants, defined by what is known as the ‘effectivity number’ of that particular aircraft and flexibility must be built into the design as a result. But this must not come at the expense of quality and safety. Tests, performance and documentation support the process and for successful designs culminate in a Certificate of Airworthiness (a ‘Form 1’) being awarded.

Case Study:  'RT' (Designer)

Experienced in working with both SMEs and individuals, Perdix Design Ltd supported this freelance designer in bringing a product from their outline drawings to pre-production prototype and helped advise on best value IP protection.
The project included sourcing potential suppliers where our client was unfamiliar, advising on manufacturing processes and the provision of a full manufacturing pack for the initial build. This allowed the client full freedom to develop the design with their preferred fabricators whilst benefitting from full on-demand support from Perdix Design on all aspects of the project and product development that they were unfamiliar with.

Case Study:  Simmonds Clockmaking

Perdix Design Ltd is delighted to have worked with Simmonds Clockmaking Ltd on their bespoke mechanical clocks for twenty-five years as of 2025. The relationship began with providing design and CAD information for etched dials, quickly adding a supplier sourcing and vetting service for specialist outsourced work. On their most recent project we have been involved from the earliest stages of the design and helped implement ways to reduce manufacturing time and costs without impacting the bespoke handmade value.
As part of Perdix Design's full lifecycle offering, we collaborated from immediately after Simmonds Clockmaking's client's initial enquiry, through to the final delivery. The clock is currently installed in a high-end restaurant in Austin, Texas

Case Study:  Aquaterra Energy

Energy supply has been transitioning away from fossil fuels to renewable or environmentally sound sources. Offshore wind frequently has an excess of power which could be used rather than stopping turbines. Redeploying oilfield assets as green hydrogen plants located adjacent to offshore wind farms allows for extended life from expensive structures and is scalable.
Perdix Design provided design and concept development assistance from the earliest stages of the project, which has proved significant in raising awareness of Aquaterra Energy’s renewables offer in response to the energy transition.
The practical solutions generated as part of the process resulted in a patent application.

Case Study:  Willow Park Associates

The use of 3D is frequently a core part of the Perdix Design process.
The flexible and open attitude we maintain allowed us to help Willow Park with several design presentations to a key client for them.
We worked closely together to develop the brief from the client and achieve client sign-off for Willow Park.
Perdix Design extended our support beyond our normal services such as visualisation, to include the supply of artwork to the American printers.
